Helping Companies Innovate Through Nanotechnology
Whether you’re an emerging company that’s developing new applications and opportunities for nanotechnology, or an existing manufacturer looking to incorporate nanotechnology to improve a product or process, the Nanotechnology Institute (NTI) is here to help.

To encourage nanotechnology in Pennsylvania, the NTI works with businesses, universities and investors to facilitate the research, development and commercialization of this leading-edge technology in real-world applications. The NTI supplies the network, knowledge and capital to help fuel nano-based economic development in the region.

Our success is founded on our ability to bring together intellectual property and technology and commercialize it more efficiently than the path that discoveries traditionally take from lab to marketplace.

Examples of NanoApplication Fund Recipients

NanoBlox, Inc.
NanoBlox, Inc. develops nanodiamond structures with chemically tunable surfaces for biomedical and industrial uses. The company’s most recent product is a nano-scaffolding substrate with extremely “clean” surface chemistry for commercial and clinical applications. Nanoblox can reliably produce its materials for specific uses and customized functionality based on medical or industry requirements. The company’s technology was developed at Drexel University under Dr. Yury Gogotsi. NanoBlox received additional funding from BFTP/SEP.

PChem Associates
PChem Associates has developed an innovative, cost effective nanoparticle manufacturing technology that produces silver nanoparticles that can be processed quickly to produce highly conductive circuits. PChem’s technology enables a dramatic cost reduction through high speed roll-to-roll printing of electronic circuitry. Beyond printed circuits, the technology can be applied to anti-microbial coatings and electromagnetic shielding. PChem received additional funding from BFTP/SEP.

PhenoTech, Inc.
PhenoTech, Inc. develops highly innovative diagnostic products for use in blood banks
including an important new generation of blood typing reagents called Nanoscale Emissive Antibodies. These products will improve routine blood transfusions by allowing physicians to better match blood supply types with their patients, resulting in a reduction in potential transfusion reactions. The use of reagents should also significantly reduce the labor costs associated with the blood typing and transfusion process. Phenotech received additional funding from BFTP/SEP.
